- No mass spectrometer or HPLC or computer or any other type of instrument in the NIH Mass Spectrometry Facility is to be used without permission and appropriate training by a staff member of the Facility.
- Instrumentation Computers
- The following policy is in force for all mass spectrometer acquisition computers in our Facility. Do not check email (webmail included) on any instrument computer. No casual browsing of web pages is allowed and no file should be downloaded to these computers without the express permission of either David Maltby or Aenoch Lynn. Prospector searches of recently acquired data are allowed, but every effort should be made to do these on non-acquisition computers when possible. When data is actually being acquired, no web base searches or processing of previously acquired data should be conducted, as this can lead to computer crashes and hangups, resulting in loss of data. Off line versions of the data processing software are available from Dave or Aenoch. No one, outside of David or Aenoch, is to install or attempt to install any new programs on an acquisition computer. In short, these computers should be used to acquire data only!
